RE.ACTION is a project that focuses on successful temporary use practices in Berlin and looks for ways to adjust them to local context. The aim of the project is to activate spaces that are excluded from everyday use as well as to address questions related to community and circular economy.
The project consists of different parts: ‘ACTION’ takes place in Berlin, where we met with several organizations that directed us to projects, relevant for our research and connected us with the collectives behind them.
‘ACTION’ is followed by ‘RE.ACTION’, an event taking place in Ljubljana, where we will present examples of good practices dealing with the vacant spaces in Berlin and discuss ways of applying them to similar indeterminate spaces in Ljubljana. The event will target city planners, interested public and initiatives addressing the problem of grey areas in urban spaces using temporary use as a revitalizing and activating tool.
Acquired knowledge and personal experience will be applied to local context through our architectural and artistic practice (Experimental space Teren and uncompleted south part of Sport Park Stožice).

Nina Savič works in the field of architecture and temporary use. During her studies at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana and at the Istanbul Technical University, she became interested in reusing, reconnecting and recycling hence she is always looking for new purposes of places and things. In her master thesis she presented the architectural renovation and upgrading of the historic building Buyuk Yeni Han in Istanbul, which preserves and revives the tradition of the craftsmanship and connects artisan trade with design. In years 2015 – 2019 she was a member of prostoRož cultural association whose mission is to improve urban public spaces by exploring them and their meaning for local residents and society at large. She participated in various prostoRož projects such as: City visionary - a board game that builds a vision of public spaces; Oases - re-discovered forgotten microspaces on the river banks of the Ljubljanica River; Sustainable urban regeneration of Idrija - Citizen-led and environmentally friendly regeneration of selected areas, Urbex - urban exploration for youth facing social exclusion, Teren - standstill construction site that becomes an experimental space.
In February 2019, she joined the student humanitarian association Roof for all (Streha za vse) as a mentor. Together with students from Ljubljana, Gambia and local residents they built a preschool facility, using local materials and building techniques.
